High School Placement Programme

Killarney School of English is delighted to offer international students the opportunity to take an academic year at a choice of public secondary schools in Killarney.


Programme Content:

Twenty Nine hours of School tuition following the Irish Department of Education and Skills Syllabus

Four weeks of English language support at Killarney School of English (Autumn Mid-Term, Spring Mid -Term, and two weeks at Easter

Additional English classes if required (private tuition available at Killarney School of English for extra cost)

On-going evaluation and student reports

Immersion with Irish family and Irish family life

24-hour emergency number

Orientation and welcome pack

Meet and greet at Kerry Airport and transfer to host family.


Fees also include:

Enrolment Fees

Full School Uniform

All books and pedagogical material

Processing of all necessary documents

Public Liability Insurance


Fees don’t Include:

Transport to Ireland from country of origin

Personal Expenses

Both of the above schools are non-selective diocesan secondary schools with a board of management. They are both very well-established schools founded in the early 19th century and follow a Christian ethos. They boast the very best of modern equipment and facilities including an information technology room, library, language laboratory, science laboratory, gymnasium, school canteen and outdoor sporting facilities. Killarney Community College

This college was founded in 1903 under the governing body of Kerry Education Service (county Kerry Vocational Education Committee) which means that is co-educational (boys and girls) and multi-belief. It too has a strong academic tradition of success but prides itself on providing a holistic education for students.



All of the schools operate three programmes. You can choose which year you would like your child to enter depending on his/her age.

St. Brendan’s can accept students of any age from 12-17.

Killarney School of English can arrange accommodation with an Irish family including full board and the student’s own bedroom. Internet access is available in most homes. We will try to find a host family with children of a similar age.
