Courses
What courses do you offer?
We offer the following courses
General English (We concentrate on
speaking and listening skills as well as essential grammar and
vocabulary, we can however tailor a course to suit your needs.) The
course is from 15 - 30 per week . For more details click HERE
Private Tuition (one to one). The course can be for as many hours per week as
you wish per week. This course is designed to suit students who wish to
learn and practice as much English as possible in a short time. The
cost is 30 Euros per hour. For details click HERE
English for Families.
Your children can study also with us in differnt classes form you. More
information click HERE
English for Special Purposes (e.g.
English for business, hotels, law, engineering etc.)These courses can
be alone or can be combined with the General English course.

Examination Classes (preparation for
Cambridge and TOEFL certificates) Due to the small numbers of students
in these classes students can get individual attention, or can be
combined with the General English course. These specially designed
courses cover the complete syllabus and give you the necessary practice

Is the school for Juniors or
adults?
We have separate courses for both juniors and adults in the same
building. If you and your child(ren) want to study in the same school
this may be beneficial.
What'sthe minimum age to enter an EFL course ?
The minimum age for the Junior Programme is 5.
How big are the classes?
Our minimum class size is 1. Our maximum from September to June
is normally 4. In the summer months this can increase to 5 to 8.
How long will it take me to speak English fluently?
It's up to YOU! It depends on how much effort you put before, during
and after the class, basically on how hard you study.

from?
Last summer we had adults from Spain, Germany, Italy, France, Belgium,
Poland, Czech Republic, Finland, Norway, Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
and Malaysia. We had Juniors from Spain, Germany, France, Brazil and

How isthe school different
from other schools?
Our school is a small school with small classes where you will get
excellent attention to your needs in a friendly learning environment.
Our school is also located next door to the Muckross national Park,
which is 22,000 acres of mountains, lakes, rivers and woodlands. For

Do I get a certificate at the
end?
Yes, all students are entitled to Killarney School of English
Certificate of attendance and achievement on successful completion of
their course.
Are there any international exams I can take to show my
English ability?
We arrange a large number of international examinations such as those
set by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate
(UCLES). Many of our courses are specially designed to help you prepare
for these exams, should you wish to take them and gain an
internationally recognised qualification. In addition we also run a
number of specially designed intensive exam preparation courses for
these challenging exams, as well as IELTS preparation courses.

How long can I stay?
The shortest course length is usually one week. You can stay from one
week to one year. weeks.
Are your EFL courses recognised by the anyone ?
Yes, we are accredited by The
Irish Department of Education and ACELS.
Whocan help if I have problems
during my stay ?
There are lots of people here
to help you. If you have a problem with your course you can speak with
your tutor or with the EFL Coordinator; if you have accommodation
problems, speak to the welfare officer - and the school has
people to assist with visa problems, health problems, and any personal
problems.

On arrival you will take a test to determine your level of English, and
will be placed in a class with other students of the same level.

As soon

Accommodation
What happens
if I do not like my homestay family ?
We understand that sometimes it is difficult to get used to living in a
new culture and our homestay families also understand this. However, if
for some reason you are uncomfortable with your homestay family during
your first week, we will find you another family. We know how important
it is to be comfortable in your homestay situation. You are requested
to speak to us if you have any difficulties.
At
what time is the evening meal?
Families eat early in Ireland - usually between 5.30 and 7.00pm. You
will then have time to do your homework or to go out to meet your
friends in Killarney.
How do I get
to School every day?
Houses are normally located within 45 minutes of the school. We have a
bus which collects students each morning. It is easy to walk,
also bicycles are available to rent
How do you
select your host families?
We have our own welfare officer who visits all our families - not just
when they are new, but regularly. Our families comply with the ACELS
Code of Practice for host families.
How manystudents stay with a host family? Typically, families will have one or two students.
Students have their own room. No two students of the same nationality
share a house unless you request this.
Do you offer alternative accommodation?
Yes. We can arrange accommodation in hotels (1 -5 Star). We can also
arrange Guest Houses, hotels, guest houses, holiday homes, and Hostels.

Social Programme
Does the School Office
arrange excursions?
Yes, there are trips to places of interest outside Killarney. We
arrange a day long excursion every week to visit such famous places as
The Ring of Kerry, The Dingle Peninsula, Blarney Castle, The Beara
Peninsula or Tralee & North Kerry. The educational value of the
excursion is exploited by choosing varied educational destinations but
also by class preparation before traveling and feedback after
returning.
Whatkind of activities are included in the Social
Programme?
We have a Sports Course with (in alphabetical order)
Basketball, Cycling, Football, Gaelic Football, Golf, Hill walking,
Hockey, Hurling, Horse riding, Mountain climbing Orienteering, Pitch
& Putt (Mini golf), Rounders, Rowing, Softball, Swimming, Table
tennis and Volleyball.

Where is
Killarney?
Killarney is located in the majestic South West of Ireland 10 miles
from Kerry International Airport, which is served daily from the U.K.
and Europe. It is on the N22 60 miles from Cork city. (See Map below)

What happens when I arrive?
You will be met at Kerry International airport or at Killarney Station,
when you arrive and taken either to the school or home. From the moment
you arrive in Killarney, you will receive complete care and attention
from Killarney School of English staff and homestay families.
How do I get from the airport to
Killarney?
We will collect you form Kerry Airport free of charge. If you arrive at
a different airport we can give you bus and train times to Killarney
station, where we will collect you, or we can arrange for you to be
collected at another airport.
