Course Description

This course is designed for students who wish to take and pass the First Certificate in English (FCE) or Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) Cambridge Examination. This course will prepare you both in terms of language and examination skills to take the exam at our local testing centre which is University College Cork. All students are tested before arrival to ensure that they have the appropriate level of English  to undertake the course. The examinations are usually held three times a year: March, June and December so courses will run 6 weeks prior to these testing dates. Deadlines for application for the exams are usually 8 weeks prior to the test date so the school will need to receive your application at least 4 weeks before the course commencement date.

Fees also include:
  • 3 afternoons of self-study with access to relevant books and audio CDs
  • All course materials including photocopied exam materials for homework marked by one of our teachers with expertise in this area
  • Help with application for the exam at University College Cork (this will need to be done prior to arrival as deadline for application is usually 8 weeks prior to the examination date)
  • Free transport on arrival from Killarney train or bus station
  • An information pack on arrival
  • Bus transport to and from school
  • Wifi and internet access
  • A certificate of attendance and achievement on course completion
  • Free bike rental on a first come first served basis
