Family Courses

We are delighted to be able to offer English tuition to both you and your children (teenagers and small children) at the same time, thus making us one of the very few institutions in Ireland that can cater for families.

In the mornings it is possible for the whole family to take the GE1 Standard Course option (15 hours of General English tuition) leaving everyone free in the afternoons to enjoy Killarney Town and the National Park in their own time.

However, it is also possible for all members of the family to be accommodated in the afternoons too. All of you could take the GE3 English plus Activities option and enjoy a full afternoon activities programme geared to each age group.

Alternatively you could let the children enjoy the activities while you opt for either an afternoon of leisure away from all distractions or further study by choosing the GE2 intensive course (30 hours General English  or GE2A combined course (15 hours General English + 5 hours one-to-one)

 Children (3-12)

Our school in Muckross has a specially designed area at the back of the main
building just for small children (3-12s), which we call the ‘Kids Zone’. It consists of 4 classrooms, a performance area, picnic tables and
large play area. Its close proximity to the main building, where the adults
have classes, means that you can keep an eye on your children, while enjoying your own classes in peace. (please see children’s courses for more information)

Teenagers (13-17)

The teenagers are based in Lissivigeen National School, a newly refurbished and well-equipped premises on the outskirts of Killarney. There is a daily bus running to and from both schools thus ensuring that, if you wish, you can have lunch with your children in Muckross prior to spending the afternoon with them either in town, or exploring the National Park. In addition, the teenage coordinator is in constant contact with the directors at Muckross thus ensuring that any important issues relating to individual teenagers are immediately acted upon and the parents contacted. (Please see teenage courses for more information)

Accommodation

There are plenty of accommodation choices available (see accommodation for more information) but two of the most popular choices for families are self catering in the incredible range of holiday homes available in the Killarney area and also host families. We have a databank of suitable families that are delighted to accommodate parents and children in the one home. These families all have children too so it is to some extent possible to match ages and interests. The host family accommodation package provides breakfast, board and evening meal. Lunches are given as packed lunch.
