How to spend a day in Killarney

Killarney is Ireland’s number one tourist destination and the busy colourful town in the southwest of the island is always an attractive place to come and now you will discover why.

If you like shopping the shopping possibilities are fantastic. Look around the wide variety of shops on the lively streets of the town or visit the Deerpark Shopping Centre where you can get anything from inexpensive fashionable clothes to lovely souvenirs.

You can also spend up to a day in the wonderful Killarney National Park. The three lakes, green landscape or a visit to historic places like Muckross House and Ross Castle are a great way to spend a day outside.

If you like to do something active how about renting a bike? There are some fantastic cycles in the National park, such as Dinis, where you can see the meeting point of the three lakes. I’d really recommend this cycle. Mountain climbing, trekking and boat trips are also worth doing.

 If you want to relax; enjoy a tea, coffee or chai latte at one of Killarney’s many cosy cafes like Lir Cafe. The town has lots of fantastic restaurants to suit everybody. Casual restaurants include Mac’s, Milano’s, Paddy’s and Stonechat. If you want a special meal why not try Lord Kenmare’s, Treyvaud’s or Chapter 40.

It doesn’t matter where you are from, what age you are or if it’s a family holiday or a trip alone or with friends. I believe this town has something for everyone!!
