Work opportunities · Practical guidance

English you can use
at work. Every day.

Killarney’s hotels, restaurants, cafés, pubs, shops and visitor attractions create employment opportunities, particularly during the tourism season. Housekeeping, kitchen and support roles may suit developing English; customer-facing roles usually need stronger spoken English.

We help you prepare with CV advice, suitable local vacancies, practical guidance and monthly job-support clinics. You can also ask us about workplace questions during your stay.

Finding work depends on your English, experience, availability and the local job market. A job is never guaranteed.

Eligible students · Valid Stamp 2 permission

Understand your work rights.

Students with valid Stamp 2 permission may work up to 20 hours per week outside the official periods for full-time student work. The maximum rises to 40 hours per week in June, July, August and September, and from 15 December to 15 January inclusive.

These limits apply across all your jobs together. Stamp 2 does not permit self-employment. Read the official work rules.

Live somewhere extraordinary

Step outside.
Discover your Ireland.

Choose the pace of a smaller Irish town, with nature close by and a warm international community. Your living costs will depend on your accommodation and lifestyle; we can help you plan a realistic budget.

Who is this programme for?

This is our 25-week General English Academic Year / Work & Study programme (AY2). It is designed for adults planning a longer stay in Ireland. Eligible non-EEA, non-Swiss students may apply for Stamp 2 permission, subject to the programme being on the official eligible-programmes list and meeting current immigration requirements.

How long can I stay in Ireland?

The programme combines 25 weeks of English and 8 weeks of holiday. An eligible English language programme can support Stamp 2 permission of up to eight months. Your permission and any entry visa are decided by the Irish immigration authorities. Check the official student requirements.

What are the attendance and exam requirements?

English language students on Stamp 2 must attend at least 85% of their classes and complete a recognised end-of-programme exam. Our package includes the TIE exam. Regular attendance and progress are an important part of your course.

Can the school help me find work?

We help with CVs, suitable local vacancies, practical advice and monthly job-support clinics. Work opportunities depend on your English, experience and the job market. Employment is not guaranteed, and you must have valid permission to work.

What does the €2,700 package include?

The 2027 package includes 25 weeks of English, the TIE exam, private medical insurance, learner protection insurance, course materials, self-access resources, a completion certificate, job and accommodation guidance, social events and daily bike rental subject to availability. Accommodation, travel, living costs and immigration fees are additional.

Will I meet other people?

Our small classes, school social events, pub evenings and student WhatsApp group give you opportunities to connect. Killarney also has local clubs, sports and an international workforce, helping you use English and make friends beyond school.

How do I apply?

Email your preferred start date, nationality and current English level to info@ksoe.com. We will explain the course, availability, accommodation options and documents needed for your circumstances before you book.
