English Course: Course for Children (3-12)
A memorable vacation for your children.
Killarney English School is one of the few English schools in Ireland able to cater for small children. Our school in Muckross has a space at the back of the main building specially designed for small children (3-12 years old), which we call KIDS ZONE
What is the ‘Kidzone’ ?
Kids Zone (the children’s zone) consists of 5 classrooms, a performance sector, picnic tables, and a large play area. It is near the main building where the adults have lessons, so you can keep an eye on your children, while enjoying your lessons in peace.
Please watch the video of our children’s zone (‘Kidzone’) on YouTube.
Our teachers are all fully trained in teaching English to young beginners and the course methodology encompasses all common aspects of language learning. Class sizes are small (no more than 10 students per class) which means that each student can receive individual attention from the teacher. In addition, we have a children’s coordinator who is responsible for all the needs of teachers and students and who organizes activities every afternoon. This can undoubtedly reassure parents knowing their children are safe.

What is my child’s level of English?
As with parents, children are asked to take a short written test before they arrive at school. This allows us to put them in the appropriate level. On the first morning, pupils aged 7-12 are still assessed with an oral interaction and a short written test. If the teacher feels that the child is in the wrong level, a decision can be made in agreement with the children’s coordinator, the school director and the parents by putting him in the level that best suits him (higher or lower). ).
What are the children studying?
The Children’s English Curriculum is designed to make learning the language fun and to motivate young beginners. It combines the most communicative learning method to date with role play, songs and games to ensure that the child leaves with a positive feeling about their learning experience in Killarney. To accentuate the entertainment aspect of the curriculum, the child is expected to present a short song or songs and/or skits at the end of each week, thus practicing the language learned during the week. .

What do the children do on Friday?
A show takes place in the ‘Kidzone ‘ every Friday from 11:20 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This show allows children to show their parents what they have learned during the week in the morning classes as well as during the afternoon activities. This motivates the children to concentrate during lessons and during the afternoon because they know that they have to participate in the show at the end of the week. Here is an overview of what is covered during the show.
– 11:20-11:40: The children sing the songs they have rehearsed in class.
-11:40-11:45: The children do a short Irish dance or play a short piece of traditional music. These were repeated in the afternoon.
– 11:45-11:55: The children perform a short play that they rehearsed during the theater lesson. They use art props they drew in art class.
– 11h55-12h00: Ceremony of delivery of certificates for those who leave the week.
Tuition fees also include:
- All school materials
- An information booklet on arrival
- Transportation to and from school
- Wi-Fi and internet access
